May books be always with you.

This is a story of Lisa Bu, TED Content Distribution Manager. At first she wanted to be an opera singer but her intention was blocked by her parents as for them, they thought good career must be safe and well paid. Its not important you like the job or not.

As she grew up and nobody supports and guides her. So she turned to BOOKS.
She satisfied her hunger of parental advice by read the a book by family of writers and musician. She found her role model (Jane Eyre) an independent woman in a traditions that requires obedience. And she learned how to be efficient with books. One of the best part was as she moved to United States, she realized that a map actually carries somebody 's view.

As Lisa Bu adjusted to a new life in the United States, she turned to books to expand her mind and create a new path for herself. She started to read books in pair as she knew the comparative reading is standard practices of academic world and why not do it in daily life too? The books can be about :
  1. two people in the same event
  2. friends with shared experiences
  3. compare same story in the different genres or
  4. similar story with different cultures
Below is the video of Lisa Bu talks on TED.
